Absolutely fantastic Beaver Scout sleepover at the museum! Robert & Jenny were friendly, interactive with the children & went above & beyond to ensure the children had the right amount of fun & learning. The museum is packed with information, clean & child friendly. Learning about John Ray was a highlight for me. Highly recommend for Beaver/Cub/Brownie groups.

Small but enjoyable museum. We were the only people there which was sad
Young man on reception was very helpful
Visited on the spur of the moment with my granddaughter after going to the library. We spent 3 very happy hours in there and could have stayed longer. There is currently an emergency services exhibition which is fascinating and brilliant for children and adults alike. Staff very helpful and friendly. Highly recommend. Plus cafe was great too!
Good experience. Well worth the time and money spent.
Maybe just a two plus hour visit but relaxinly educational.

Fantastic place to visit.

Not having lived in Braintree for the last 40 years or so, our visit was a mix of a trip down memory lane and some surprising discoveries, particularly the pottery aspect. We spent an hour there but could have stayed longer. I should also mention the warm welcome at reception. Excellent.

Had a lovely afternoon here

Nice fresh food at cafe. Coffee of a good standard.

Great place to visit.

Lovely little local museum, full of fascinating facts about Braintree and the surrounding area. Well worth a visit.

Been there as a volunteer for my daughters school trip. It was a lovely experience. All the staff there were kind and friendly. The kids had a go on some of the Victorian artefacts and toys. It was good to see the kids amazed and curious at the same time. I really enjoyed (maybe not the kids, lol) the real experience of the Victorian classroom, the teacher (whom the kids have to call “ma’am”) seems quite strict. Experiencing that Victorian classroom scene at some point felt a bit real and overwhelming.

A lovely place to visit and enjoy.

This little gem was holding a dinosaur event. I took my Granddaughter and my Dino mad great niece along to check it out. Both girls loved it, from the fossil hunting dig, the hook a dinosaur game, the picture hunt and the craft room they were totally engrossed. As for the visiting dinosaur itself wow. Great day out. I would thoroughly recommend it.

Friendly staffing interesting exhibits.

I unexpectedly learned a lot about Braintree from the comprehensive displays.

Bought back many memories even my first day at Manor Street in 1963

Wreath making very enjoyable. Very patient tutor and the class were very nice. My first time and I came away with a very nice Wreath.

Fascinating insight into the industrial history of Braintree. Famous names started here. Courtauld fabrics, Crittal windows. Lake and Elliot engineering. Braintree was an important industrial centre in the past, especially in wartime. Local artists are also on display. Friendly staff, definitely worth a visit.

A colourful, delightful and, in places, amusing exhibition that shows off the friendship between two creative women.

Lovely Museum entry £5 but it’s wort. Space history, a meteroids pieces, the old Victorian school classroom, the bones and teeth of dinosaurs mammoth and megalodon etc.

Loads of local history,Nice retro touches(I liked the star wars) competitions to be won games to be played, and even make your own universe in a bottle.

My wife and I loved it here, would recommend!

I was on an organised visit to the textile archive and the Warner section. All very interesting.

Nice little museum of local history, which also has exhibitions with a wider context, such as the current ‘Space fact and fiction one.’ There is a reproduction early 20th century classroom so children can see what they were like. A good experience and recommended.

Kids enjoyed time here… as did mum and dad… helpful staff and additional bonus of a halloween activity box…

• All ‘Admin’ Updates & Checks have been made for this month.

The newly integrated Newsletter Sign-up form directly to the Campaign Monitor account via an API key seems to have helped in reducing the spam received in previous months. I will continue to  keep an eye on this over the coming weeks.

Also for this month, a new Section for the ‘Edward Bingham Ceramic Colletcion’ has been created.
Includes links to separate pages showing info and various images taken from supplied PDF.
A total of 64 individual pages/pieces: https://braintreemuseum.co.uk/edward-bingham-ceramics-collection/

I have now integrated the Newsletter Sign-up form directly to the Campaign Monitor account via an API key rather than using a plugin / software to connect the account. This should result in helping with authentication and further reducing spam. I will also keep an eye on this over the coming weeks.

August 2023

Hi Polly and Robert… Hope all is well … Below is your monthly web site report and up to date overview for: braintreemuseum.co.uk

• All ‘Admin’ Updates & Checks have been made for this month..

With regards to the recent spam attack on the website’s ‘News Letter Sign Up’ form on https://braintreemuseum.co.uk – which resulted in the Campaign Monitor account being temporarily suspended. – I have implemented further security measures on the website and so this issue should now be resolved, with the Campaign Monitor account now being re-instated. –

On further monitoring, I have noticed we have received a small number of spam sign-up’s (all of which have been moved to ‘Deleted’ subscribers). – Also having a further look down the list, I have noticed a few more suspicious subscribers. It may therefore pay to check through the list and remove any that do not appear to be genuine. when you have a moment.
In the meantime, I will keep a further eye on the list but may mean that we have to look at implementing further spam prevention moving forward.

if you have any queries or need any further information/explanations, simply let me know.

Many thanks,

Best regards,
Gary

Hi Polly and Robert… Hope all is well … Below is your monthly web site report and up to date overview for: braintreemuseum.co.uk

All ‘Admin’ Updates & Checks have been made for this month..

Campaign Monitor Upgrade
Campaign Monitor has been upgraded for this month to send to 2501 – 5000 subscribers (previousely under 2500 subscribers)
You can now send up to a total of 25,000 total emails per month.
You can reduce the number of subscribers by ‘segmenting’ your lists:- This involves creating a master list, setting up a rule (segment) for each category of subscribers, importing each category and selecting an appropriate segment – and so by combining e-mail lists you will be removing duplicate subscribers. – Further details can be found below in the ‘E-mail Campaigns’ section.

December 2022

Hi Polly and Robert… Hope all is well and you are enjoying your Christmas break..

Below is your monthly web site report and up to date overview for: braintreemuseum.co.uk

All ‘Admin’ Updates & Checks have been made for this month..

Two new forms:

Volunteering here; https://braintreemuseum.co.uk/volunteering/

Group visits here; https://braintreemuseum.co.uk/adult-group-visits/

Mailchimp Connection:
I have also re-installed the Mailchimp ‘Subscribe to our monthly newsletter’ sign up section on the home page – The connection to your Mailchimp account appears to have been successful according to the Mailchimp plug in and we are connected to your “Museum Newsletter” audience.
I have attempted a test sign up using:
First Name: Garytest
Last Name: Thomastest
Email Address: gary.thomas44@googlemail.com

I received the e-mail confirmation from Mailchimp and completed the ‘Confirm Subscribe to our newsletter’ section – Then I received my ‘Thanks for joining us’ e-mail.

If you could please check/confirm that my new subscription has appeared on your Mailchimp account?

I have kept the style of the form very basic as to ensure the form data connects to Mailchimp successfully – Once confirmed, we can complete the styling of the new form.

What’s On section:
I have noticed that you have a number of ‘Upcoming Events’, during January – March 2023 – If you would like any of these posted on the website, please let me know.

Many thanks,

Best regards,
Gary

October

The content from the existing website has now been pulled over onto newly created pages on the new draft website. – I have followed the navigation layout from your original spread sheet, however I have also included some original pages not listed which may have been missed?. Obviousley, if these additional pages are no longer required or need to be merged with other pages, simply let me know.

Below is the list of additional pages that I have included and a side note as to where these pages are listed on the website:
Local History – EXPLORE
Related Groups – FOOTER
Museum Redevelopment – EXPLORE
• News Archive – FOOTER
Group Visits – VISIT
Girl guides & Scouts – VISIT
Children’s Workshops – Now DISCOVER >> EVENTS
Collections – All sub-menu’s of EXPLORE >> ‘THE COLLECTION’
Online Resources – Submenu of VISIT >> EDUCATION

There are also a few pages yet to be created / linked – The titles of these pages will be marked with a # within the main navigation menu.

If you could please let me know if the following pages are still required and/or have updated content:
• Braintree Has Heart – Submenu under VISIT >> EDUCATION
• News – DISCOVER – Yet to be created
• Patrons – SUPPORT – Please confirm/send over content
• Donations & Bequithing – SUPPORT – Currently this information appears as an image on t he existing site.. If you could send over copy, I will create a new page
• Tickets – To be created/linked
• Shop – To be created/integrated

I have also copied/linked all existing PDF’s where used on the existing site.. Simply send me a list of replacements/updates if & where necessary

I have used a combination of new & existing images… Simply send me a list of replacements/updates if & where necessary.

I have also used the existing Google slides for the DISCOVER >> ONLINE EXHIBITION – We could find an alternative way to display this information, however, there will be quite an amount of work and we we may just be re-inventing the wheel? – https://braintreemuseum.co.uk/exhibitions/
The page layout displays the slides as 3 columns across the page. This can be modified to show as 1 slide per row as on the current website, however, the ‘full screen’ function is still enabled.

For the ‘COLLECTION’ area – I have used the Google slides again, however the audio link does not appear to work.. – If you are able to send me a direct link to the audio, we may be able to embed the link within the image for it to play? – https://braintreemuseum.co.uk/courtauld-and-co/
I can then go through and complete the remaining collections.

For the website header, I have filled the right hand white space with a display area for one or two banner ad’s to promote ‘What’s On’ and any upcoming events etc. – This area can also be modified.

Currently the default ‘Home Page’, is the ‘Plan Your Visit’ page, however we can default any landing page as the home page, create a new unique home page and/or link any page to the Braintree Museum logo.

Obviously there is quite a bit to go through so I’m happy if you simply want to send me any amendments/notes/queries in batches and/or I can call in and go through with you if you prefer..

We have also created an archive of the original website which will be accessible by a unique link once the new website goes live.

As a reminder, here is the link to the new draft layout: https://braintreemuseum.co.uk/

Look forward to catching up with you soon.

September

Hi Polly and Robert… Below is your monthly web site report and overview for: braintreemuseum.co.uk

We have also set up a staging website that will contain the draft pages for the new layout and designs –

I have added some elements to start the page, keeping a clean and modern look, at the same time, allowing to include a good range of content to showcase all elements of the museum and what will be on offer for the visitor. – Once we have established a map of all the content elements for the main page, the layout can then be adjusted and completed accordingly.. – Here is the link to the new draft layout: https://braintreemuseum.co.uk/

I have also uploaded the recently taken photo’s to a shared Dropbox: Click here for link

Once you are happy with the finished layout and new content we will complete the remaining pages, navigation and look at integrating the required functions (also listed below)

I will discuss in further detail when you have had a chance look everything over.

Anything that you would like explained further, or to add/include to the below report, simply let me know.

Many thanks,
Gary

To Be Established

Spam Attack on the ‘News Letter Sign up’ form:-
With regards to the recent spam attack on the website’s ‘News Letter Sign Up’ form on https://braintreemuseum.co.uk – which resulted in the Campaign Monitor account being temporarily suspended.

In the meantime, I will keep a further eye on the list but may mean that we have to look at implimenting further spam prevention moving forward.

if you have any queries or need any further information/explanations, simply let me know.

Current Campaign Monitor Plan

Campaign Monitor Upgrade monthly plan – 4 Mar 2023 – The ‘Journey’ system from 2501 – 5000 subscribers – Includes Sending up to 5,000 subscribers on the account with a total of 25,000 total emails per month @ £75

Campaign Monitor Upgrade”
Campaign Monitor was upgraded in March 2023 to send to 2501 – 5000 subscribers (previousely under 2500 subscribers)

Subscriber lists on your Campaign Monitor account..

Did you know that you can segment your list (ie create various rules under a single subscriber) in order to avoid duplicating any one subscriber and splitting them across various lists. The reason for this is that you are charged per e-mail/person that is on your account, so if you have one subscriber that is split between three different lists, they will be counted as three individual subscribers across your total lists.. Creating segments allows you to keep your list numbers down to avoid you moving up into the next package tier and so keeping your monthly costs down..

The best way to set up Campaign monitor for segmentation is to create a new list – Start by exporting your first list that will be applicable for segmentation (ensure to only export active subscribers, omitting any unsubscribes and deleted subscribers) – Create a new list, eg. All segmented subscribers – March 2023 – Create your unique segments (rules) that will be applicable to the various subscribers that you are going to include on the new list.

Import your fist list and choose the applicable segment to that particular list.

Export your remaining lists, then import to the newly created, segmented list, again choosing an applicable segment for each particular list.

Once done, you should then be able to delete all remaining separate lists that you have now created segmentation for…

You can find further information on list segmentation here:  https://help.createsend.com/list-segmentation
