Toddler Time

Toddler Time welcomes children aged one to four to share new experiences, create memories and connect with others at Braintree District Museum. Each session provides stimulating sensory and educational sessions for families to participate in, with every other week being a messy play session! Every week has a unique theme, which has included exploring our current exhibition, investigating the museum garden and things the children have suggested like beach activities. Our most popular sessions so far have been:

·         Garden Explorers – We used magnifying glasses to search for plants and insects in the Museum Urban Garden. We learnt that many insects like to come out in the warm weather and then created a snail picture to take home.

·         Roar Roar Dinosaur – This activity engaged us by using archaeological dig boxes to search for dinosaurs. We then counted them, sorted them into different colours and reburied them to repeat!

·         Transport Time – Families participated in group parachute games to engage movement and coordination skills. One session we were lucky enough for a local police officer to see our fun and stop and join in! Another popular transport session was the ‘Car Wash Station’. Toddlers took cars that had been covered in ‘mud’ and washed them off in soapy water. This was very messy but a lot of fun!

Toddler Time starts at 10am every Friday morning. The session runs from 30 minutes to an hour, but families are welcome to stay and play as long as they like.

We receive funding to make Toddler Time FREE. We recommend booking to avoid missing out! To book, please call 01376 328 868
